Act Now, Make A Change
Now that you know about your own carbon footprint, here are a few ways you can reduce it and make a positive impact on the environment. It's never too late to start, and any small change you do now will have a big impact tomorrow.

Take the bus to school
Yes, we know it takes longer and you have to get up earlier. Especially so, when sleep is a premium in high-school. So perhaps try to balance and take the bus at least one way or some days of the week when there's less homework assignments.

Carpool to/from school
If you can't take the bus, another option maybe to carpool with a friend who lives near you. Maybe, car pool on the way back if you are part of the same after-school activities.

Eat less meat
Eating less meat can reduce carbon emissions from livestock which produce methane and carbon dioxide. Just by reducing meat intake from daily to a few days in a week can make a positive impact.
Savings: 350.4 kg CO2
Go vegetarian
If you can avoid meat altogether or reduce it significantly, then the savings are even more. Substitute meat with vegetables and fish for a healthier you and a greener planet.

Take shorter showers
Reducing the length of your showers can reduce carbon emissions associated with heating the water. If you are like me and get lost in thoughts while in the shower, you may consider a water-proof timer to help keep track of time.
Savings: 109.5 kg CO2
Avoid single use plastic
Single use plastic such as straws, shopping bags, drink cups and water bottles put a significant burden on landfills and increase carbon emissions. Simple steps like remembering to carry your own water canteen whenever you step out of the house can help.

Vacation closer to home
Flights and vacations are a necessity that we can't eliminate even though they emit a lot of carbon dioxide. Just by vacationing somewhere closer to home vs internationally can help reduce your carbon footprint quite a bit.
Savings: 2,600 kg CO2
Fly less often
Given that flights have such high carbon footprint, any reduction in number of fights taken in a year can help. For short distance trips, consider taking a train or bus vs a flight. Sometimes the time saved on a short flight is not that significant compared to other modes.
